Environment is mental health
The environment that you work in is just as important as the environment that you are surrounded with outside of the workplace. The workplace environment, if done correctly, can contribute to the betterment of the mental health of everyone involved.
They both are equally as important. For instance, if your home is untidy, you are not living in a safe neighborhood, if you never have anything to eat or your only options are unhealthy ones, just to name a few, then it will have a negative affect on your mental health and your ability to perform at a high level. On the work place side, your work place environment on a whole is key. The physical things but also the mental part. How your managers, supervisors or clients interact with you. Their leadership or communication style has an affect on the employees and the moral of the office and or the team. Is it a positive experience overall or is it an unpleasant one? Maybe it is a high stressed roll and has everyone on edge and increases the tension in the workplace. How are you giving feedback? Is is harsh, rough and tough approach, is it tailored to how each person receives feedback or is it a cut and dry approach?
Knowing how to effectively express your thoughts emotions and ideas without decreasing the moral of the team is a very useful skill. We want to ensure that everyone's experience is positive and therefore increasing the productivity, confidence and mental health of the team.
