Consistency leads to Longevity

What separates the greats from everyone else? Of course if you are 4ft 11inch with a flatfoot and no coordination you may never make it into the NBA or even the NFL. So there are natural limitations. However if you are in field that does not pose any limitations to your ability to execute a task at a high level, then there should not be any excuses to attain success. There are many factors that we can not control in life but if there's any one page that we can take from the book of those that have achieved greatness in any field, the title of that page would read Consistency

The dictionary definition of the word consistency is, "the achievement of a level of performance that does not vary greatly in quality over time". Doing the same things daily and constantly, dedicating one self to the pursuit of improvement. This is a key success ingredient that is found in every arena. Hitting that game winning shot or landing that big account, all don't happen by accident. Sure high achievers make it look easy, but that is because they have took those same shots, ran those same drills, practiced those same moves, day in and day out. So when it came time to perform, it was all muscle memory.

Take some time out of your day each day and try to do something in your area of interest consistently. Start with something small, whatever it is, make sure it is relevant to your career goals. Then once you can master this, then add some more moves to your belt of skills. Do them daily and intentionally. This will make you outlast your competition and rise above the ranks in your industry. Most people do not do anything long enough at a high level consistently in order to achieve success. Make sure to hold yourself accountable, and whatever you do, don't complain. Find a way to get it done, especially if you want to stick around in your industry for a long time.

Sincerely,
