Onwards and Upwards: Public Housing's Impact on Lives

Imagine the profound impact when young adults transition from living with their parents. Consider the hope that comes with new beginnings after leaving incarceration. In previous years, the average middle-class person may not have considered public housing an option. However, with the rise of inflation and the ongoing economic crises, think about the relief for those unable to afford skyrocketing rent rates. Public housing is pivotal in filling these crucial gaps, providing stability, empowerment, and a second chance.  Stories abound of individuals who have transformed their lives through public housing, finding a stepping stone to a brighter future from independence to newfound opportunities; public housing proves its importance by paving the way toward success, one life at a time. The Mask

Do you often find your boss being harsh on you? Don't be disheartened just yet. Sometimes, their seemingly relentless expectations show that they see your potential. The truth is, they might be secretly preparing you to step into a leadership role without your knowledge.  So, instead of feeling overwhelmed, embrace the challenge and trust your abilities. Remember, the toughest bosses can be your most incredible mentors, molding you into a capable successor. Stay determined and keep learning; the demanding boss might groom you to lead.  Sincerely,  Kurtice Lewis

Love is the Mission

Loving what you do is the essential ingredient in making it in life. Especially as it pertains to the world of business.  The number one question that is on everyone's mind daily is, "what is my purpose". This is a very difficult question to answer and the response will be different for everyone. However, if you start by having a mission, work towards that mission but make sure that love is the foundation in that mission. Figure out what that mission is first, but make sure that you absolutely love it.  The rest comes easy because you are operating from a place of love. The hard and difficult days will be much easier to power through because you love this thing so much. Those same task can become very daunting if you are doing it solely for profit and not from love. So, make sure that whatever it is you decide to do, make sure love is the mission. Sincerely, Kurtice Lewis #Kurticelewis

The Ask!

This has to be the trickiest thing in business ever. For lots of people, it is the scariest thing that we have to do in order to achieve success. At some point in our lives we are faced with the difficult task of having to ask someone for what we may feel is key to getting what we want. Whether it may be in sales, selling a product or service, asking for investments, asking for sponsorships or even a donation.  The trick about it from my experience, is to try and reframe the ask. This way it will not seem so scary, or offensive to ask for what we want. We already in our minds, feel as though the person/people/organization we are asking, are going to say no. We know subconsciously that what we are asking for, is something that will work out to our advantage and benefit. But, what if we shift that mindset. Instead of just looking at what we can get from this exchange, we look at it as mutually beneficial to both parties. You see, you aren't just simply asking for something from someo...

Be You!

I recently had an awakening moment that hit me like a ton of bricks. Recently, with World Cup Soccer fever in the air, my mind ran on the little soccer career I had when I was in high school.  It was during this time of reflection, that my mind ran down this rabbit hole (as it usually does from time to time), of a specific date and time at my high school training grounds. As a freshman, I looked up to this senior by the name of Saint. Saint was about my height and skin complexion, amongst a few of the many things that we had in common. I often thought to myself that I'm basically "the new Saint of this school" and saw myself filling into his shoes and role once he graduated. On this particular day at the training grounds with Saint and all the rest of my team mates, we were practicing our corner kick plays. Saint had this really incredible style of taking corner kicks, where the ball would seem to be floating in the air for what seemed like an eternity and then drop right...

Dreams are 4 Suckers!

Unless you have the talent to actually pull it off. Here are 4 steps to finding out whether or not you have the chops to pursue your dreams.  Step 1, Talent. Do you truly have the talent to pursue the dream that you are going after. Most people think they have what it takes to pursue their dreams, but rarely take the time to check to see if anyone is confirming these beliefs. Someone other than your Mom, Dad or Spouse. Step 2, Packaging/Presentation. This is the day and age of social media, and in this modern day world, your online presence says a lot about your brand. Idc how good your home made BBQ sauce is, if the packaging is ugly then I am not going to try it, respectfully. How good are you at curating your looks for your social media pages? Is it a complete mess? Is it in-line with your brand? Is your messaging clear? These are all the things you have to consider if you want to present yourself, product or service in the best way possible. Step 3, Likability! This one is huge...

Consistency leads to Longevity

W hat separates the greats from everyone else? Of course if you are 4ft 11inch with a flatfoot and no coordination you may never make it into the NBA or even the NFL. So there are natural limitations. However if you are in field that does not pose any limitations to your ability to execute a task at a high level, then there should not be any excuses to attain success. There are many factors that we can not control in life but if there's any one page that we can take from the book of those that have achieved greatness in any field, the title of that page would read Consistency .  The dictionary definition of the word consistency is,   " the achievement of a level of performance that does not vary greatly in quality over time " .   Doing the same things daily and constantly, dedicating one self to the pursuit of improvement. This is a key  success  ingredient that is found in every arena. Hitting that game winning shot or landing that big account, all don't happe...

Do the hard things.

Life is challenging, and if you don't already know by now then I think I should inform you that anything worth having in life is at the end of something difficult. Even down to the most basic of desires in life. You want a great cup of coffee that won't cost you $7 a cup? Then you have to go through the process of making it. You want a great homecooked meal instead of eating away at your paycheck every pay period? Then it comes with some work and effort. Even if it's one of those easy to make 3 step, just add water or milk style recipes.   We have to develop the will power to fight against our natural human state of comfort.   Our bodies naturally just want to be lazy. Our minds will love nothing more than to just rest and find more easier ways of doing things. However, this gets us nowhere. You want to settle for a mediocre life then take the easy route, but a life worth living will come with its fair share of challenges. So, everyday, do something that challenges you. Eve...
